The University of South Florida's Social Networks Research Collaborative (SNRC) was well represented at the International Network for Social Network Analysis (INSNA) Sunbelt Conference, held June 22–27 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Widely regarded as the premier international meeting for social network researchers, the annual conference brings together scholars from around the world to share cutting-edge methodological advances and innovative applications of network science across disciplines.
Representing the SNRC at this year's conference were Rebecca Campbell-Montalvo, David Dillon, Yiwen Zha, Katie Walters, and Katelyn Carlsen, who presented research spanning health, education, and implementation science. Their work highlighted how social network analysis can provide new insights into complex challenges ranging from healthcare decision-making (e.g., kidney replacement decision-making) to student success in higher education.
In addition to presenting research, the SNRC served as a visible ambassador for the University of South Florida's sponsoring a coffee hour and the poster session. Throughout the week, our members connected with researchers from institutions across the globe, exchanged ideas for future collaborations, and introduced attendees to the Collaborative's mission of advancing interdisciplinary social network research. The conference provided an ideal venue to build new connections that will support future collaborative research and funding opportunities.
More recently, Dr. Campbell-Montalvo presented revised preliminary findings associating social network attributes with brain activity as measured by electroencephalography at the Military Health System Research Symposium in August in Kissimmee. The poster is shown below.
