Katelyn Carlsen is an honors Undergraduate Student majoring in Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Florida. Her primary work focuses on integrating and applying computer science with neurology, with a particular emphasis on diagnosing mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) using deep learning models. In addition to her academic pursuits, Ms. Carlsen has conducted independent research on the neurocognitive and sociological implications of social media algorithms, and she has explored the effects of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) on intellectual culture through sentiment analysis on social media platforms. Within the realm of social networks, she has applied Natural Language Processing techniques to automate the organization and analysis of egocentric network data, mitigating time and cost constraints that limit the potential of social networks for improved health outcomes. She is dedicated to bridging the gap between AI and healthcare whilst maintaining a human-centered approach to medicine.
