AQUASS is honored to welcome Enola Okonkwo, M.D. as a Faculty Affiliate of the research lab. Dr. Okonkwo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, the Associate Program Director for the USF Emergency Medicine Residency Program, and an Emergency Physician at Tampa General Hospital. Dr. Okonkwo brings a wealth of expertise in the advancement of equitable healthcare, trauma-informed care, and healthcare access for vulnerable populations—all areas aligning closely with AQUASS’ mission to broaden access to healthcare through the social sciences. Among her other accolades, in 2025, she won the WLP Dr. Kathleen Moore Faculty Excellence Award due to her outstanding contributions and achievements in women's health. This collaborative partnership with Dr. Okonkwo allows the lab to benefit from her insights as well as together advance basic and applied research on structural vulnerabilities in healthcare access and outcomes.
