A place to discover advancements in hearing healthcare.
A Multi-Site, Multi-Disciplinary, Audiology-Focused Research Laboratory
The Auditory Rehabilitation & Clinical Trials Laboratory (ARCT Lab) unites leading experts across USF to advance hearing healthcare and transform the training of future clinicians. Bringing together specialists from USF Health Audiology/Otolaryngology and USF Communication Sciences and Disorders, the lab has over a decade of experience of collaborative, innovative-driven, and impactful research with direct implementation to patient care.
Research and clinical activity now span three USF locations: (1) Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM), Department of Otolaryngology; (2) College of Behavioral & Community Sciences (CBCS), Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders; and, (3) the Sarasota–Manatee campus—expanding the lab’s reach and allowing it to deliver cutting-edge services to patients across the greater Tampa Bay region.
The ARCT Lab is also a key contributor to the newly launched Institute for Voice and Hearing Innovation, the first center of its kind dedicated to accelerating breakthroughs in otolaryngology. Through novel cross-disciplinary collaborations and industry partnerships, the lab is creating unique opportunities for discovery, education, and patient impact.
A Research Laboratory EMBEDDED within an Otolaryngology Clinic
The ARCT Lab is uniquely positioned within high-volume patient care centers. We have dedicated research space in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare, allowing researchers and clinicians to work side‑by‑side in a truly integrated care environment. This close alignment enhances patient access to innovative treatments and expands opportunities for individuals seeking advanced hearing healthcare.
The ARCT Lab brings together leading experts in Audiology, Hearing & Vestibular Science, Policy and Healthcare Utilization, Otolaryngology and Neuro-otology, and Implementation Science, creating a collaborative ecosystem committed to improving patient outcomes while shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. Through its integrated approach, ARCT Lab continues to strengthen USF’s role as a driving force in the future of academic medicine and specifically audiology and otolaryngology.
