Hailan Liu, MD, PhD

I joined Dr. Yong Xu’s lab through an exchange program in 2018 and earned my PhD degree from Xiangya School of Medicine in 2021. I then continued my training in Dr. Xu’s lab as a postdoctoral researcher. Over the years, my work has focused on understanding how the central nervous system regulates energy balance and obesity. My current research aims to identify novel neural circuits and cell populations that are essential for the coordinated regulation of body weight, feeding behavior, thermoregulation, exercise motivation, and immune homeostasis.
