I earned my PhD at Purdue University, where I studied the role of mitochondrial metabolism in peripheral tissues, including brown adipose tissue, white adipose tissue, and skeletal muscle. My work fostered a deep appreciation for the intricate metabolic connections between organs. While peripheral tissues are critical for maintaining whole-body energy homeostasis, I became particularly interested in the central nervous system’s pivotal role in regulating energy balance. To further explore the neural control of metabolism, I joined the Xu lab in early 2025, where my research focuses on the crosstalk between the brain and peripheral tissues. Outside the lab, I enjoy traveling, hiking, visiting zoos and museums, exploring diverse cuisines, and watching funny animal videos.
