Yuxue Yang, MD, PhD

I studied clinical medicine at Chongqing Medical University, followed by a master’s degree and a PhD degree in cardiology from Yangzhou University, during which I investigated acute kidney injury and stress-induced cardiomyopathy. These projects provided me with extensive training in cardiovascular pathology, molecular biology, and critical thinking. In 2023, I transitioned to neuroendocrinology research by joining Dr. Xu’s lab, first at Baylor College of Medicine and now at University of South Florida. My research focuses on how the central nervous system communicates with peripheral organs—e.g. the heart—to regulate cardiometabolic function.
