Dr. Shamima earned her Ph.D. in Biotechnology from South Asian University, New Delhi, India, in 2019. During her Ph.D. journey in inflammation biology, she pioneered a transformative shift from using NSAIDs to purinergic receptor antagonists for treating ATP-mediated inflammation in mouse models, significantly advancing the "two-hit hypothesis of neuroinflammation.” Post-graduation, she embarked on a new chapter at Zhongyuan University of Technology in China as a Research Assistant Professor. In 2021, Dr. Shamima joined the University of South Florida as a postdoctoral research scholar, where she further honed her expertise in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, with a primary focus on Alzheimer's Disease (AD) pathology. Her ongoing research in Dr. Gulick’s lab delves into the impact of circadian rhythms on AD, with the ultimate goal of uncovering innovative therapeutic avenues. Beyond her professional pursuits, she treasures family time, delights in playing with her 6-year-old child, and indulges in her passions for music, cuisine, movies, and travel, often savoring these moments with a cup of tea.
