Dr. Dominguez Rieg brings a wealth of experience in medical physiology education and research expertise in intestinal and renal physiology. In her academic role at USF MCOM, she is the Course Director of the Basic Medical Sciences: GI, Endocrine, Renal & Reproductive Systems course for MS1 students and the Basic Medical Sciences: Cardiology, Pulmonology, & Nephrology course for MS2 students. She teaches physiology and pathophysiology in multiple courses in the pre-clerkship years. She is also the Director of Basic Science Integration and the Physiology Integration Director for the medical school with expertise in content development across all four years of the curriculum. Although primarily a medical educator, Dr. Dominguez Rieg is still highly involved in basic science research. Her research interests are kidney-intestinal crosstalk and intestinal function in the context of systemic diseases such as obesity and diabetes mellitus.
