Hariom Yadav, PhD
Dr. Hariom Yadav is Director of the USF Center for Microbiome Research and an Associate Professor in Neurosurgery and Brain Repair, as well as Internal Medicine–Digestive Diseases and Nutrition. He is a basic and clinical nutrition scientist specializing in the microbiome, aging, and related disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, obesity, and diabetes. His research examines how diet and gut microbial composition influence cognition, inflammation, and metabolic health, integrating human studies with preclinical models. Dr. Yadav has served on multiple NIH study sections and reviews for major national and international funding agencies, and he holds editorial roles across several scientific journals.
Dr. Yadav is also an experienced mentor committed to developing scientists across all training levels. His postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, medical trainees, and undergraduates have consistently progressed to successful careers in academia, medicine, and industry. Many of his trainees have secured faculty positions, postdoctoral roles, or entry into medical and doctoral programs, reflecting his strong emphasis on rigorous training and career development.
