Summer Undergraduate Research Assistant

Addie Prasal is an Honors undergraduate student at the University of South Florida majoring in Health Sciences on the pre-nursing track, with a minor in Psychology. In the AQUASS Lab, she contributes to medical anthropology research examining the social context and non-specific factors at play in interventions being evaluated for traumatic brain injury (TBI) in Veteran and Service Member populations. Her previous experience ignited an interest in neuroinflammatory cascades and disruptions in cognitive and affective processing following injury. Beyond her work with adult TBI, Ms. Prasal has academic interest in neonatal neuroscience, where she researches early-life brain vulnerability, immune–neural interactions, and the developmental consequences of perinatal brain injury. She plans to further this work through advanced training in neuroscience and clinical practice, with the goal of turning brain injury research into improved neurologic outcomes for neonates.
