Atharva Markale
Atharva earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Manipal University, India, and his master’s degree in biomedical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA. His research focuses on the intersection of biomaterials and advanced drug delivery systems. He has extensive experience in synthesizing polymeric micro- and nanoparticles, as well as hydrogels for small-molecule delivery and scaffold-based systems for three-dimensional cell culture applications. Previously, Atharva worked on characterizing protein corona formation to understand nanoparticle–protein surface interactions, contributing to the development of targeted and stealth drug carriers. Currently, his research centers on mRNA delivery to the heart to promote cardiac regeneration and improve function in ischemic heart disease models.
