Sahanama Porshe
Sahanama Porshe began her research training during her associate degree through the CSTEP program, where she studied marine bacteria and developed a strong foundation in molecular biology. During her undergraduate studies at Hunter College (CUNY), in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine, she conducted oncology research in osteosarcoma and contributed significantly to experimental design and data analysis. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in biotechnology at the University of South Florida, with a strong interest in translational therapeutic development. Her interdisciplinary research experience spans cancer biology and transcriptomics within the College of Public Health, where she has worked on RNA-seq analysis, porphyrin metabolism, and liver cancer models.
Sahanama is conducting her master’s thesis at the USF Center for Regenerative Medicine in Dr. Ajit Magadum’s laboratory, where she is focused on developing novel mRNA-based therapeutic strategies in a highly translational research environment aimed at advancing regenerative and cardiovascular therapies toward clinical application.
