Kye-Im Jeon, PhD
Dr. Kye-Im Jeon earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 2001 from the Catholic University in the Republic of Korea. She completed her postdoctoral training at the Aab Cardiovascular Research Institute and then worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the Flaum Eye Institute in the University of Rochester in New York.
Dr. Jeon has a strong research background in the mechanisms of fibrosis, focusing on fibroblast activation, extracellular matrix remodeling, and the signaling pathways that drive pathological changes in smooth muscle cells and corneal fibroblasts. Recently, her work has expanded to investigate the interplay between mitochondrial function and cardiac fibroblast activation. This includes studying the roles of mitochondrial calcium handling, reactive oxygen species (ROS) signaling, and metabolic reprogramming in regulating fibrotic responses.
