Taiye Gegele

I am a PhD student in Medical Science at the Morsani College of Medicine (MCOM), University of South Florida. I have a Bachelor of Science in Human Anatomy, as well as Master of Science degrees in Cell Biology & Genetics and Molecular Medicine. My research in the Song Lab focuses on elucidating cell-cell communication among cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, and macrophages in cardiac disease. By uncovering the mechanisms underlying these interactions, my research aims to contribute to the development of targeted therapies to treat heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias. Outside of the lab, I enjoy staying active by playing tennis with friends, reading, and exploring the natural beauty and vibrant culture of the Tampa Bay area.
