I am a research scientist under the tutelage of Dr. Song and I conduct translational research within the field of cardiology. I developed a research background in cancer immunology during my undergraduate career, which has lent itself well to understanding the signaling mechanisms for differentiation in our human iPSC-based lab. My focus within the lab is on discovering novel cardiac regeneration methods, as well as assisting in the development of hiPSCs into functional tissues for future use as models, as well as potential regenerative medicines. With the ultimate goal of repairing and regenerating the infarct region of damaged hearts, these projects have exciting prospects for the future of cardiovascular medicine, utilizing novel experimental strategies and treatments on the cutting edge of the field. In my free time, I enjoy teaching and training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, playing strategy games, and spending time at cafes with my close friends here in Tampa.
