I am a trained cell biologist with expertise in biochemistry. I earned my Ph.D. from Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich, Germany, in 2009 and subsequently held research and faculty positions at Columbia University, Brigham & Women's Hospital, and Harvard Medical School before joining the University of South Florida in 2026. My research focuses on the physiological and pathological roles of α-synuclein at the intersection of synaptic biology and neurodegeneration. Beyond my research, I am committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for students and postdocs from all backgrounds. I am passionate about mentoring next generation scientists and educators. I firmly believe that “science is for everyone”.
