Research Focus
Sensory nerve function and dysfunction
Sensory nerves innervate almost every organ in the body. They are activated by many stimuli including touch & stretch, heat & cold, damage & irritants, and inflammation & infection. Once activated, sensory nerves trigger sensation (e.g. pain) and reflexes that drive behavioral and physiological changes. Our group studies how these events occur and how they become detrimental in disease.
