The presentations highlighted ongoing academic and clinical research involving the DRX9000 Lumbar and DRX9000C Cervical Spinal Decompression Systems, with a focus on patient outcomes and collaboration between neurosurgery, chiropractic medicine, rehabilitation specialists, and medical engineering.
Among the presenters were Dr. Susan Welsh, Director of the Chiropractic Division within USF Health's Department of Neurosurgery, Brain and Spine; Dr. Nathan Schilaty, Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Neuromusculoskeletal Research; Dr. Harry van Loveren, Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery, Brain and Spine; and Saleem Musallam, Founder and CEO of Excite Medical.
During his presentation, Harry van Loveren discussed the five-year partnership between the Florida Chiropractic Association and the University of South Florida. He highlighted efforts to integrate chiropractic physicians into an academic neurosurgery environment and noted improvements in patient satisfaction, operational efficiency, research collaboration, and access to care.
Presenters also shared recent clinical findings and published outcomes related to non-surgical spinal decompression therapy. The research reflects USF Health's ongoing commitment to exploring evidence-based approaches to treating spine-related conditions while expanding multidisciplinary collaboration across healthcare specialties.
