Courtney Premer, MD, PhD, is an emergency medicine physician-scientist whose research focuses on translating regenerative therapies from the laboratory to the earliest stages of acute care. Her work builds on a background in mesenchymal stem cell therapy, cardiovascular disease, and endothelial dysfunction, with a current focus on sepsis and the prevention of early organ dysfunction. She leads the PREMER Lab with the goal of developing biologically targeted therapies that can be delivered at the bedside in the emergency department.
Research
Advancing Regenerative Therapies for Sepsis
We investigate whether mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)–based therapies can mitigate endothelial injury and cardiopulmonary deterioration during the earliest stages of sepsis. Our work combines mechanistic biomarkers, cell-based therapies, and emergency department–based clinical investigation.
