Originally from Colombia, Alejandra has a strong interest in neurodegenerative diseases and the mechanisms underlying their progression. She earned her bachelor's in Pharmacy in Spain, where she began her training in neuroscience research. During this time, she developed a deeper curiosity about how molecular and cellular processes contribute to neurodegeneration. In 2024, she moved to the U.S. to pursue a PhD in Medical Sciences, where she is focusing on the role of blood-brain barrier disruption in vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
