This custom-built Dynamic Investigator of Spine Characteristics (DISC) Simulator is capable of cutting-edge research! It allows for 6 degree-of-freedom biomechanics research of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar spine, as well as the pelvis. If desired, it is size adaptable for an entire torso!

Equipment:

  • Pneumatic actuators provide follower loading as well as muscle contractions.
  • Arcus stepper motors provide movement control
  • 6DOF load cell provides kinetics (forces / moments)
  • 3D motion system provides kinematics (angles)
